The DAUGHTER-IN-LAW Rules Book Review & Giveaway(Closed)

I received the The DAUGHTER-IN-LAW Rules Book from Sally Shields. Although I really don't agree with this book, because it talks about how to get along with your Mother-in-Law. It all comes down to it talks about you agree with what she says and thinks and to me I was in a really bad relationship with my mother in law when she was alive and we butted heads constantly and she thought I was never good enough for her son and not for good reasons, she hated me because I was southern (she was from PA) and that I was cherokee indian and way too dark for her, so I think in some instances the mother in law is not always right. I believe if you want respect you have to show respect no matter how old the person is. Yet in this book it makes it out to seem she knows more because of her age and experience. Says don't put her down to your husband, or complain about her to your husband, yet if he is your soul mate and you keep nothing from him then I believe he needs to know how you feel in the process. I do agree in the book it says not to talk down about the mother in law to your kids although I don't have any but it goes both ways because if the mother in law also talks bad about the daughter in law to her kids is wrong and distasteful as well. It talks about if she mentions how you take care of your kids to ask her opinion and again I don't believe she needs to be in every waking moment, you have to learn as you go to raise your kids not have her raise them for you. All in all I didn't care for this book yet my mom read and and enjoyed and learned alot from it, I guess it really depends how you want to see it in the long run. I mainly got plain out your suppose to kiss your mother in laws butt and that will never happen from me. I do think age plays a main part as well from the daughter in law where I'm younger and I see it totally different, and it depends if its childish on either party for not getting along.
