Fling Bins Review & Giveaway(Closed)

I received 2 of these fling bins one BBQ & Celebration. I really thought they were gonna be cheaply made when I got them due to the fact they can be thrown away. Although I didn't use them for like parties I used them for our recycling I picked the styles cause I liked the look better. I used in one cans of course washed out, and the other I used for plastics, granted neither are real heavy but still they held the plastic bottles and cans very good. There stronger than they look and have metal strap inside that is what pops it out and keeps it out. It has a cardboard bottom as you will see in my pics. This is a great bin for recycling it was just easy to pull the edge up around it and take to the salvage yard. So if you recycle or have parties this is defiantly a must, there easy to use, no mess, no fuss just pop it out and when your done with pull the side up over like a bag and done. I hope everyone loves these like I do, they are so worth having. There customer service is great as well, so you know your in good hands when ordering. You can go to the site to see the video on how they work.

I want to thank Fling Bins for letting me review there products.

I want to share some other info from the company to answer what flings are and stuff:

What are Flings? Flings are an innovative new line of pop-up disposable trash and recycling containers. They’re designed to make trash and recycling easier – and a little more enjoyable – across a range of uses both around the home and away.

The first Flings line is targeted mainly toward parties and other gatherings, where consumers have told us they don’t have great solutions today … typically either a clunky, ugly trash or recycling bin or a trashbag hung over a drawer or doorknob. Flings solves this by offering portable, clearly recognizable trash and recycling containers. That way guests know where to put the trash and recycling, and the host/hostess can kick back and enjoy the party.

How were Flings conceived? The original inspiration came from a Bay Area inventor, Ed Austin, who recognized that there are many occasions where trash gets created away from primary trash and recycling receptacles … what we’ve come to call “surge trash” situations. Ed did some interesting product concepting to solve these issues and came to us. We subsequently worked with Ed to refine the product concepts, develop a manufacturable design, and do the necessary product, packaging and sourcing work. Parties and gatherings were one of the most challenging situations for consumers, so that’s where it started. As you can see, it’s been a real team effort.

How do Flings work? They couldn’t be easier. Flings come in a handy compressed state for easy portability. When you get to where you need to, just tear off the paper tape, pop them open, and they’re ready for use. When full, just pull up the skirt, tie with the handy drawstring and toss! In the case of the recycle bin, many consumers tell us they like to use it daily inside as their recycling collection point, then dump periodically into their main recycle bin, and re-use.

How do Flings help in Recycling? The big “aha” for us was that the US recycle recapture rate of 30% in the US is among the lowest of any developed country. Our research told us that consumers care about recycling. In fact, over 50% were extremely or very concerned about recycling at gathering, for instance. But we’re also a very convenience-oriented society. Flings help by making recycling more accessible wherever you are, easier and even sort of fun. Each Flings Recycle bin holds up to 60 cans and bottles. On average, that’s typically good for about 20 people. Each can that’s recycled vs going to the landfill saves enough energy to power a television for 3 hours. That’s pretty impressive!

Are Flings made of recycled/biodegradable material? We blend in recycled materials where possible with our suppliers. Today about 90% of the Flings bin, by volume, is biodegradable. We’re currently experimenting with new materials that might get us to 99% biodegradable by year-end. In the meantime, though, we’ve focused on making sure that the bins are strong and reliable (the primary benefit) and that it’s as easy as possible for consumers to recognize the Recycle bin and increase their recycle participation.

Where are Flings headed? We’re just beginning to secure retail distribution for Flings, across a range of party, grocery, mass and club outlets. That’s a real process, as you might imagine. In the meantime, consumers can learn more about Flings and even buy online at www.flingsbins.com Beyond that, you can expect to see more patterns for additional occasions, new forms of Flings for other consumer uses beyond parties, and additional recycling/materials initiatives.

If Pressed for Western/local roots/themes: Flings were conceived here in the West, with the inventor in the Bay area, the primary product development and pilot manufacturing in Bozeman, and commercialization efforts driven from Denver. Our western consumers lead an outdoor life and are very recycling conscious. So they especially appreciate Flings portability and convenience whether outdoors, at picnics/cookouts, and even camping.

I would use them for my upcoming baby shower, they would be much nicer than our black boring trash can!

The Celebration Flings I would use for our daughter's upcoming college graduation celebration. I think I'd keep the BBQ Flings and use them for our regular household recycling collections for cardboard and cans!
